Anna Nicole Smith - Birkhead Explains Lingerie For Tot Comments

ANNA NICOLE SMITH's former lover LARRY BIRKHEAD has spoken out in a bid to set the record straight after buying the former Playboy pin-ups lingerie at a celebrity auction - and stating it was a keepsake for their one-year-old daughter DANNIELYNN.

Birkhead caused controversy after telling reporters he had forked out nearly $3,000 (GBP1,500) for lingerie the late star once wore for a Playboy shoot so he could give the saucy items to their tot.

But the photojournalist says his motives were innocent - insisting the lingerie represents a huge part of Smith's life, and says he will pass the garments on to their tot as soon as she is old enough to understand their meaning.

He tells Eonline.com, "I didn't buy Anna's lingerie for Dannielynn. We're still on Sesame Street. We won't get to Playboy until at least the age of 21."

"Playboy was a significant thing in her life and career. It was something that I did with pure intentions. It's something I will give her when she's an adult so she can better appreciate what her mother was about."

The tot's mum, model/actress Smith, died from an accidental overdose last February (07).

George Jones duets album features Richards, Gill

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Country legend George Jones has raided the archives for his next album, "Burn Your Playhouse Down: The Unreleased Duets," which features 12 collaborations with the likes of Keith Richards and Dolly Parton.

Most of the tracks are leftovers from Jones' 1994 release "The Bradley Barn Sessions," which corralled such diverse stars as Richards, Mark Knopfler and Vince Gill. The new set will be issued on August 19 via Jones' own Bandit Records label.

Richards duets with Jones on the title track, Knopfler on "I Always Get Lucky With You," and Gill on "Selfishness in Man." Parton sings on "Rockin' Years," which did not make the cut for Jones' 1991 album "Friends in High Places."

Other guests include Shelby Lynne ("I Always Get It Right With You"), Ricky Skaggs ("She Once Lived Here"), Jones' ex-wife Tammy Wynette ("Lovin' You, Lovin' Me"), and their daughter Georgette Jones ("You and Me and Time").

Derbyshire's Saracen were a hard, verging on progressive, rock ensemble that became wrongly associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal -- as much due to the timing (1981) of their self-released debut album, Heroes, Saints & Fools, as for their leather jackets and handlebar mustaches. Having said that, the band never tried and true to overtly latch onto the movement's coattails, and were all fine musicians in their possess right, in particular vocaliser Steven Bettney, world Health Organization possessed a rich and powerful voice. Completed by Robert Bendelow (guitar), Richard Lowe (keyboards), Barry Yates (bass), and John Thorne (drums), Saracen earned an other clientele from influential Friday Rock Show presenter Tommy Vance, world Health Organization invited them to record a few wireless sessions and helped bolster their commercial prospects as they readied new single "No More Lonely Nights" in 1982. This, along with subsequent releases for the Neat label (the Change of Heart album and "We Have Arrived" single -- both 1984), showed the mathematical group moving in a far more commercial direction, toward the hook and synth-laden post-prog AOR of a Kansas or Magnum, to be precise. Again, not that thither was anything faulty with this, leave off for the sad reality that Saracen (now tweaked to feature film guitar player Haydn Conway, bassist Jason Gardner, and drummer Danny Spencer) had little hope of future in that scene of action while sign-language to metal-specialized Neat. The group made it to one more Friday Rock Show school term before its members vanished from sight, with only Conway resurfacing in 1996, as a member of Son of a Bitch, also featuring tierce ousted members of Saxon.

Jonathan Levine finds work after 'Wackness'

Will write and direct two projects

NEW YORK -- Jonathan Levine, whose coming-of-age dramedy "The Wackness" took home an audience award at the recent Los Angeles Film Festival, has set up two new projects.

The helmer will write and direct "Positive," a romantic thriller set on Martha's Vineyard that will be produced by "Wackness" producer Occupant Films. He's also penning "Echelon Vendetta," an espionage thriller based on David Stone's novel; the project has been set up at Sony.

"Positive" centers on a twenty-something who visits his fiancee's family only to be seduced by her sister. Occupant's Joe Neurauter, Felipe Marino and Keith Calder will produce the film, which is aiming for a mid-2009 start date.

"Vendetta" centers on a "cleaner," a CIA operative in charge of keeping dirty laundry from being aired in public, who after the death of a friend begins to investigate the deaths of several agents.

Levine, who is repped by UTA and manager Ragna Nervik, has concentrated on indie projects but said he'd like to strike a balance between studio and indie gigs. "I want to have a lot of the creative freedom that comes from (indie films), but I also don't want to be broke," he joked.
